Nuffield College Library is pleased to announce a Christmas Vacation photographic extravaganza: Extreme Reading!
Unlike the Chapel Committee’s recent photographic competition, this will be a digital-only event, and entries will be displayed on our Facebook site. (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Oxford-United-Kingdom/Nuffield-College-Library/6379864542# )
Extreme reading is all about reading in the most unusual place you can think of (and having your photo taken while doing so) and aims to remind all our members of the joys of reading, and of books! Up a stepladder, on top of a mountain, underneath the Christmas tree – let your imagination run free.
Send your photo as an email attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org by the beginning of Hilary Term, Monday 18 January 2010, and help cheer up the dark days of January!
Please note: you do not have to be reading a Nuffield College Library book in the photograph: but if you do, please do not jeopardise its (and your) safety. Extreme does not mean dangerous, and you should not put yourself or your book in danger in the quest for the perfect photo. Nuffield College Library takes no responsibility for any damage to people or property in the process of getting your photo. Librarians are terribly law-abiding and we hope you will be too. Please read responsibly!
We will mount the entries as we receive them as a Facebook album on the ‘photos’ section of our Facebook pages, and voting will be by the ‘like’ facility (comments via the ‘comment’ facility are welcome but will not count as votes.) If you would like a Facebook tutorial prior to this, we will be happy to oblige. In order to be valid, votes should be cast by Monday 1 February. Only votes by current members of Nuffield will count towards the final total.
There will be a prize for the most ‘liked’ photo, but mostly this is about having fun!
Have a good Christmas!
